⬆ CEFR A2 — Elementary · Comparatives · Survey · Reading
🚲 How Do You Usually Go to School?
Compare transport · Read CO₂ data · Survey your class · Make eco-friendly choices!
🚲 Cycling is the cleanest! 🚌 The bus is better than the car. 🚗 The car is more polluting than the bus. I usually go by bus.
🎮 How to Apply the Game — Teacher Guide
1
Set up: Display on your projector. Have transport flashcards ready as physical prompts. This A2 activity adds a Reading task (CO₂ data table) and a live class survey tally — four skills in one lesson.
2
Comparative Warm-up: Go to the Comparatives tab. Click two transport cards to select them, then press a comparison button. The class produces the comparative sentence aloud. Award points for correct sentences.
3
Live Class Survey: In the Survey tab, ask: "How do you usually go to school?" Students raise hands or call out. Click + for each student's answer. The live chart updates instantly. Use Analyse to generate a class sentence.
4
Board Game: Go to the Board Game tab. Students roll the dice. Click Reveal Sentence to see the model, then Show Comparative for an example comparative. Award points for correct sentences and comparisons.
5
CO₂ Reading: Navigate to the Reading tab. Students read the CO₂ data table silently (1–2 min), then answer the comprehension questions by clicking to reveal answers. This is the new reading skill added to the activity.
6
Comparative Writing: In the Reading tab, scroll to the writing frame section. Students complete comparative sentences using the data. Click Show Examples to display model answers on the projector for peer checking.
7
Keyword sidebars: Click any Eco Word (left) or SDG (right) for a pop-up explanation. At A2 level, encourage students to use the keyword in a full sentence with a comparative after reading!
8
Wrap-up: The Reflect tab has discussion prompts using comparatives. The Homework tab provides a structured 5-sentence writing scaffold — students write about their own transport habits.
Estimated game time: ~40 minutes. This activity extends the A1 transport theme with A2-level comparative structures (better than, cleaner than, more polluting than) and a new Reading skill via the CO₂ data table. The live class survey generates real data for language production. Key structures: "The ___ is [adjective]-er than the ___." / "I usually go by ___." / "Going by bike is better than going by car because it produces less CO₂."
